There are a number of different imaging systems used in the analysis of slides. Light microscopes allow for a clear image of the inside of a cell, but can only resolve the clarity within the range of the visible spectrum.

Electronic microscopes can product much more detailed images, up to 1,000 times greater than light microscopes because they operate at a higher frequency and at wavelengths shorter than visible light. This enables you to look at molecules with unparalleled clarity.

Other systems such as a Synchrotron and Infra red microscopes allow you to view tissues on an atomic level.
